Wolds Words Festival 2012
The East Lindsey District Council run festival had a varied programme inspired by London 2012. The programme included more than sixty events from calligraphy to graffiti, Lincolnshire dialect to folk rock, paper-making to book illustration, as well as films, plays, walks, talks and even a knitter-in-residence.
People of all ages were inspired, with hands-on opportunities to write, draw, knit, make short films and perform their own work.
Wolds Words continued with the legacy of the 2012 Olympics and the summer of sports with former Olympic swimmer and sporting legend, Mark Foster, visiting the festival. ‘A night with Mark Foster’ offered the audience an insight into Mark’s sporting career as well as his involvement with the London 2012 Olympics, Paralympics and not forgetting his stint on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Portfolio Holder for Culture, Leisure and Tourism, Councillor Adam Grist, said: "I am delighted that this year’s Festival was so well attended. As well as being a chance to promote the local area and bring people into our towns, Wolds Words has showcased a range of amazing shows for the whole community to enjoy.
"Festivals are about bringing people together to have fun and experience new things and Wolds Words has achieved that again this year.”
If you or your group would like to have an input to next year’s festival or if you would like to make comments about this year’s event, please contact the Team on 01507 613449 or email culture@e-lindsey.gov.uk.
